51 16 222 Replacing finisher on right instrument panel trim

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove right fresh-air grill . See 64 22 135 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRESH AIR GRILLE .
Version with radio:
Remove radio receiver . See 65 11 080 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RADIO RECEIVER .
Version without radio:

Remove Radio Cutout Trim .

Release screws (1).

Finisher on right instrument panel trim (3) is secured in outer front passenger area with a retaining clip (1) and if necessary with additional shims.

Press retaining clip (1) together and remove upwards from guide (2).

If necessary, remove shims.

WARNING: Retaining clip (1) may only be inserted from above.
Retaining clip (1) and if necessary shims must be seated without play.

Lever out finisher on right instrument panel trim (1) with special tool 00 9 341 at mounting points (2) and remove in direction of arrow.

Installation:

Always fit finisher for right instrument panel trim (2) with new retainers (1).

Locator for retaining clip (3) in outer front passenger area must not be equipped with retainers (1).
