61 12 180 Replacing wiring harness on function carrier on left or right front door

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove function carrier in front door refer to 51 21 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FUNCTION CARRIER ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR
Remove control unit in front door, refer to 61 35 220 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) CONTROL UNIT FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR
Disconnect sensor plug connection for front door, refer to 65 77 740 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) LEFT FRONT DOOR SENSOR
Remove speaker, refer to 65 13 070 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SPEAKER (MID-RANGE SPEAKER, DOOR AT FRONT)

Build date up to 09/2004:

Disconnect light module plug connection, refer to 63 99 486 REPLACING LIGHT MODULE FOR FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE LIGHTING (UP TO 09/2004)

IMPORTANT: Follow instructions for handling fibre optic cables. Refer to 61 00... NOTES ON HANDLING OPTICAL FIBERS .
Risk of mixing up plugs for door lock and control unit!
Mark relevant plugs of wiring harness to be changed.
Ensure correct plug connections for replacement wiring harness through comparison of plugs (wire cross-sections, pin assignment).

Unclip wiring harness (1).

Feed out wiring harness (1) with rubber grommet (2) and remove.
