51 11 156 Removing And Installing Front Bumper Trim

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove baseplate for number/license plate. Refer to 51 11 158 REPLACING BASEPLATE FOR LICENSE PLATE .

Build date up to 03/2005:

Remove both fog lamps. Refer to 63 17 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) left or right front fog lamp .
Build date from 03/2005:
Remove both side grilles. Refer to 51 11 185 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SIDE TRIM GRILLE FOR BUMPER TRIM (FROM 03/2005) .

Release screws (1) or clip (1) on left/right.

Release screws (1).

IMPORTANT: Bumper trim must not be pulled out sideways (risk of damage).

Remove bumper trim straight towards front with aid of a 2nd person.

If necessary, disconnect additional plug-in contacts and feed out cable.

Installation:

Observe gap dimensions.
