12 14 611 Replacing Knock Sensors On Left Side (Cylinder Bank 7-12 N73)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove intake air manifold . See 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD (N73) .
Disconnect left and right intake lines.
Disconnect high-pressure lines . See 13 53 175 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ALL PRESSURE LINES (N73) .
Remove HDEV fuel rail . See 13 53 107 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTH INJECTION LINES (N73) .
Detach HDEV wiring harness . See 12 51 150 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING WIRING HARNESS SECTION FOR FUEL INJECTORS (N73) .

IMPORTANT: Confusing the plug connections of knock sensors gives rise to engine damage. The routing of wires and the plug connections must correspond to the original routing so as to avoid mix-ups.

Disconnect plug connection (1) from holder.

Remove knock sensors (2).

Installation:

Knock sensors can only be replaced in sets.

Release screw (1).

Remove knock sensor (2).

For tightening torque 12 14 1AZ , see 12 14 ELECTRONIC SHIFT UNITS OR CONTROL UNITS .

Installation:

Contact surfaces of knock sensors must be free from grease and dust.

Assemble engine.

Check function of DME.
