51 71 378 Removing And Installing/Replacing UNDERRIDE Protection

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

NOTE: The operation is described on the left side; proceed in the same way for the right side.

Version up to 10/03:

Lever out catches (1) and detach brake air duct (2).

Installation: 

Fixtures (1) on brake air duct (2) must not be damaged.

Build date from 10/03:

Release expansion rivet (1).

Lever out catches (2) and detach brake air duct (3).

Installation: 

Fixtures (4) on brake air duct (5) must not be damaged.

Left only:

Lever temperature sensor (1) out of fixture (2).

Pull temperature sensor (1) with cable grommet (3) out of brake air duct (5).

All build versions:

Installation: 

Catches (1) on brake air duct (2) must not be damaged.

Release nuts (1) and remove underride protection (2) in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Nuts (1) on underride protection (2) must not be damaged.
