51 41 000 Removing and installing left or right front door trim panel

Special tools required: 

WARNING: Version with side airbag:
Follow safety instructions for working on cars with airbag systems, refer to 51 00 ... SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING ON CARS WITH AIRBAG SYSTEMS 
CAUTION: Do not use any sharp-edged tools to remove the panel - risk of damage to airbag.

Remove footwell light on bottom of door. Refer to 63 31 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FOOTWELL LIGHT .

Remove door handle in front door trim panel. Refer to 51 41 019 Removing and installing/replacing door handle on door trim panel, front left or right .

Remove toggle switch for door window operation. Refer to 61 31 115 REPLACING ROCKER SWITCH FOR POWER WINDOW OPERATION .

Pull mucket (1) upwards.

Release hexagon socket screw (2) at side up to measurement (A).

A Approx. double screw head height

Installation: 

Remove hexagon socket screw (1) until end of thread is flush with nut clip (2).

Lever out cover in handle recess and release screw (1).

Unclip clips (2) of door trim panel with special tool 00 9 317 (trim panel wedge).

Installation: 

Fit all clips (1) with sealing ring.

If necessary, replace faulty clips.

Detach door trim panel at top from front door.

Installation: 

Bend open clips (1) on inner door plate for installation, replace if necessary.

Unfasten plug connection (1).

Pull handle lighting (2) out of mounting.

Disconnect Bowden cable (1) on unlocking lever.

Installation: 

Press unlocking lever for installation fully in handle recess.

CAUTION: Do not damage cable.

Unclip cable holder (1) on entrance light.

NOTE: If very tightly seated, use a screwdriver to remove. Replace clip if necessary.
