51 11 001 Replacing front bumper

Remove complete front bumper. Refer to 51 11 000 Removing and installing complete front bumper .

Replacing center section of front bumper (support beam): 

Remove both front trim rings (1). Refer to 51 13 050 Removing and installing/replacing left or right front trim ring .

Detach expansion rivet (2) from bumper carrier (3).

Detach expansion rivet (1) and remove bumper carrier towards rear from bumper (2).

NOTE: The following work step ends here "Replacing center section of bumper (support member) at front".

Replacing front bumper (bumper trim): 

Remove high-beam headlights. Refer to 63 12 170 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT HIGH-BEAM HEADLIGHT .

Remove metal nuts (1) and (2) on left/right.

Remove insert (3).

Detach bucket (4) from bumper (6).

Release rivet (1).

Release screws (3).

Remove washers (4) and metal nuts (5) and remove insert (2).

Installation: 

Make a note of number of washers (4).
