Cooling System, Filling
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Cooling System Service Station:VAS 531 011
Condition
- Completely drain the coolant. Refer to Coolant, Draining .
- The coolant circuit valves must be opened. If necessary, perform the "Opening the electric activated valves for discharging and charging the refrigerant circuit function" again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entry .
- Pay attention to the operating instructions for the Cooling System Service Station:VAS 531 011 .
Procedure
-- Fill the "New" reservoir of the Cooling System Charge Kit:VAS 531 011 with a minimum of 17 liters of coolant in the right mixture ratio. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Make sure that the coolant hoses are connected.
-- Connect the Cooling System Service Station:VAS 531 011 then refer to the operating instructions.
-- Select "vehicle maintenance" in the main menu.
-- Select "pressure test" in the menu and perform the hydraulic leak test.
- Test duration => time 120 s
- Max. Delta P => 40 mbar (0.58 psi)
- Pressure test => 2000 mbar
- Follow the notes on the display.
- After finishing the test the result is shown.
-- Select "vacuum test" in the menu and perform the hydraulic leak test.
- Vacuum time => time 240 s
- Specified value => 40 mbar (0.58 psi)
- Test duration => time 120 s
- Max. Delta P => 30 mbar (0.44 psi)
- Follow the notes on the display.
- After finishing the test the result is shown.
- If necessary, repeat the procedure.
-- In the menu select "system, filling" and perform the filling.
- Capacity => enter 17000 g, corresponds to 17 liter.
- When completing the filling procedure the display shows the filled coolant quantity.
- When completing the filling procedure the service station automatically begins cleaning the hoses.
- Follow the instructions on the display and do not interrupt the procedure under any circumstances.
- After finishing the test the result is shown.
- If necessary, repeat the procedure.
Tip
The cooling system is filled with 16 to 17 liters of in this procedure.
-- Perform the "electric activated valves for the cooling system after discharging and filling, de-energizing" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entry .
-- Bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System, Bleeding .
