Steering Column Adjustment Cable, Replacing

-- Remove steering column with steering column tube ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING COLUMN TUBE .

-- After loosening lock nut -2- in adjusting element -3-, thread adjusting screw -1- in to relieve tension on cable.

-- Cut cable with side cutter behind adjusting screw and remove.

-- Check dimension -A- between adjusting screw and lock nut on new cable; correct if necessary.

Dimension -A- = 8 to 10 mm (0.31-0.39 in.)

-- Compress adjusting spring -B- until spring coils contact each other, and secure with insulating tape or equivalent.

-- Slide cable through plastic guide on steering column tube.

-- Slide cable through adjusting mechanism and pinch spring sleeve on end of cable using standard pliers.

-- Install eccentric lever -1- of cable on steering column tube bolt and install cable on bracket (arrow).

-- Remove insulating tape from adjusting spring.

-- Adjust cable STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT CABLE, ADJUSTING .

-- Install steering column with steering column tube in vehicle Installing .

-- Check cable length adjustment again, and readjust cable if necessary STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT CABLE, ADJUSTING .
