Removing and installing:
-- Remove the wide vent. Refer to OVERVIEW - INSTRUMENT PANEL .
-- Remove the air duct to center instrument panel vents -Item Air ducts in Vehicle - List Item: Air Duct to Center Instrument Panel Vents.
-- Loosen the left and right catches and remove the air duct from the heater and A/C unit.
- Air Duct to Center Instrument Panel Vents
Removing and installing:
-- Remove the wide vent. Refer to OVERVIEW - INSTRUMENT PANEL .
-- Loosen the left and right clip and the remove the air duct.
- Right Air Duct
Removing and installing:
-- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt on the heater and A/C unit air intake housing.
-- Remove the air duct.
- Air Duct to the Right Instrument Panel Vent
- There are different versions.
- This air duct is installed on vehicles with a "Low" A/C system (or without an A/C system)
Removing and installing:
-- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the wide vent. Refer to OVERVIEW - INSTRUMENT PANEL .
-- Remove the air duct.
- Closure Cap
- On vehicles without a Right Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G386- the opening in the air duct is either not present or is closed with a closure cap (for example on vehicles with a "Low" or without an A/C system).

- On vehicles without a Right Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G386- the opening in the air duct is either not present or is closed with a closure cap (for example on vehicles with a "Low" or without an A/C system).
- Right Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G386-
- Currently only a "High" A/C system is installed
- Refer to Right Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G386-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Check the Right Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G386- use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function
- Air Duct to Right Instrument Panel Vent and the Wide Vent
- There are different versions.
- This air duct is installed on vehicles with a "High" A/C system
- The illustration shows A4 and A5 on the Q5 no wide vent is available
Removing and installing:
-- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the wide vent. Refer to OVERVIEW - INSTRUMENT PANEL .
-- Remove the expanding rivet and the bolt.
-- Disconnect the connector on the Right Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor - G386- and on the Instrument Panel Vent Motor -V562- and remove the air duct.
- Front Heater and A/C Unit
- Different versions. Refer to OVERVIEW - HEATER AND A/C UNIT and the Parts Information.
- Refer to HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Air intake, air vents and air routing in the heater and A/C unit. Refer to AIR DUCT IN FRONT HEATER AND A/C UNIT .
- Right Front Footwell Vent
- Refer to FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- In service cases the footwell vent can additionally be installed. Refer to the Parts Information; tightening specification 1.5 Nm
- Air Duct
- Different versions on a "Low" A/C system (without an A/C system) or a "High" A/C system.
- This air duct is installed on vehicles with a "High" A/C system
- Additional air duct toward the rear. Refer to AIR DUCTS AND VENTS IN THE REAR VEHICLE INTERIOR, "Low" A/C SYSTEM (WITHOUT A/C SYSTEM) and AIR DUCTS, TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND VENTS IN THE REAR VEHICLE INTERIOR, "High" A/C SYSTEM, A4 AND A5 .
Removing and installing:
-- Remove the center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the air ducts to the rear footwell vent and to the vent in the rear center console.
-- Loosen the catches and remove the air duct.
- Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Check the Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261- using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- Left Front Footwell Vent
- Closure Cap
- On vehicles with a "Low" A/C system (or without an A/C system) the Left Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G385- is installed in the air duct to the center instrument panel vent, the opening in the air duct is either not present or is closed with a closure cap.

- Installed here on vehicles with a "High" A/C system
- Refer to Left Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G385-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, "High" A/C SYSTEM .

Removing and installing:
-- Remove the driver side instrument panel cover. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left instrument panel vent -Item Instrument Panel Air Ducts - List Item: Left Instrument Panel Vent. Refer to OVERVIEW - INSTRUMENT PANEL .
-- Remove the air duct to the left instrument panel vent -Item Air ducts in Vehicle - List Item: Air Duct to the Left Instrument Panel Vent.
-- Remove the expanding rivet.

Removing and installing:

-- Disconnect the connector on the Left Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G385- ("High" A/C system) and remove the air duct.
- Intermediate Piece in the Air Duct

- Left Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G385-
- On vehicles with a "Low" A/C system (or without an A/C system) the Left Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G385- is installed here
- Refer to Left Front Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor -G385-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, "Low" A/C SYSTEM (OR WITHOUT A/C SYSTEM) .
