Overview - Muffler, 2.9L Engine

- Exhaust System, Installing without Tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Front Clamping Sleeves
- Tighten the threaded connections equally to 23 Nm.
- Before tightening, align the exhaust system without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Installation position. Refer to Fig 1.
- Pushed onto the front muffler stop
- Center Muffler
- Removing and Installing. Refer to MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Exhaust System, Installing without Tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Original equipment as one unit with rear mufflers. If a repair is required replace each separately
- Separating point. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, DISCONNECTING .

- Coat the threads with hot bolt paste.
- Seal
- Always replace after removing.
- Front Muffler
- With the coupling, the coupling must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it may be damaged
- Removing and Installing. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Exhaust System, Installing without Tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Rear Clamping Sleeve
- Before tightening, align the exhaust system without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Tighten the threaded connections equally to 23 Nm.
- For individual replacement of the center and rear mufflers
- Installation position. Refer to Fig 2.

- Check the pretension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .

- Exhaust Door Control Unit
- Right Exhaust Door Control Unit -J883-
- Left Exhaust Door Control Unit 2 -J945-
- There are different versions.
- The exhaust door control unit version 1 is illustrated
- Exhaust door control unit version 2. Refer to OVERVIEW - EXHAUST DOOR CONTROL UNIT .
- Removing and Installing. Refer to EXHAUST DOOR CONTROL UNITS -J883- / -J945-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Rear Muffler
- Removing and Installing. Refer to MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Exhaust System, Installing without Tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Original equipment one unit with the center muffler. If a repair is required replace each separately
- Separating point. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, DISCONNECTING .
Installation Position of the Front Clamping Sleeves
-- Install the clamping sleeves so that the bolt ends do not project over lower edge of the clamping sleeves.
- Installed position: the threaded connections face outward.
- Angle -α- = 45°.
Installation Position of the Rear Clamping Sleeves
-- Install the clamping sleeves so that the bolt ends do not project over lower edge of the clamping sleeves.
- Installation position: threaded connections forward.
