SUBFRAME Front Hydraulic Bonded Rubber Bushing, Replacing: Removing
-- Remove the rear wheels. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
-- Versions with air suspension: bleed the air suspension system. Refer to AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- To replace the rubber bonded bushing, lower the front of the subframe. It is not necessary to remove the subframe.
- The subframe must not be lowered more than 40 mm.
-- Place the :T10337 on the :VAS6931 and position it at the bottom of the subframe.
There is a risk of an accident when lowering or lifting the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never lift or lower the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never leave the engine and gearbox jack under the vehicle any longer than necessary.
-- Equipped on some vehicles: remove the diagonal braces. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY CROSSMEMBERS .
-- Remove the muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DLHB] / MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DLZA, DKMB] / MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DPAA] .
-- Pry out the anti-twist mechanism -2- in the area of the retaining tabs with a screwdriver from the bonded rubber bushing alternating from side to side.
-- Pry out the plastic insert -1- from the bonded rubber bushing.
-- Mark the installation position of the hydraulic bonded rubber bushing on the subframe -arrows-, for example with a felt-tip marker.
-- If necessary, the support -arrow- with the small interior diameter must be removed from the :VAS6178 and the T10205/13 must be installed for it.
-- Free up the wires if necessary.
-- Only lower the subframe enough to position the special tool.
-- Arrange the special tools as shown.

There is a risk of injury due to parts falling out when pressing.
It is possible that parts of the body may become bruised.
- Secure the hydraulic cylinder while pressing out.
