Rear Lower Transverse Link, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
Versions with Coil Springs:
-- Determine the curb weight position. Refer to VEHICLES WITH COIL SPRINGS, CHECKING THE CURB WEIGHT POSITION FOR AXLE ALIGNMENT .
-- Remove the spring. Refer to SPRING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Versions with Air Suspension:
-- Determine the standard vehicle height. Refer to STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT FOR AXLE ALIGNMENT ON VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION, CHECKING .
-- Bleed the air suspension system. Refer to AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
Continuation for All:
-- Equipped on some vehicles: remove the diagonal brace. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY CROSSMEMBERS .
-- Remove the wind deflector from the transverse link. Refer to WIND DEFLECTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Turn the wheel hub, until a wheel bolt hole is at the top.
-- Install the :T10149 with a wheel bolt -2- on the wheel hub.
-- Slightly lift the wheel bearing housing using the :T10149 with the :VAS6931 this allows the threaded connections to easily separate.
There is a risk of an accident when lowering or lifting the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never lift or lower the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never leave the engine and gearbox jack under the vehicle any longer than necessary.
-- Versions with air suspension: release the retainers in direction of -arrows-, free up the air spring -3- at the lower transverse link -1- and tie it up.
-- Disconnect the threaded connections -1, 3 and 4-, and remove the lower transverse link -2-.
