Lock Carrier, Removing And Installing, RS3: Removing
-- Remove the radiator. Refer to the appropriate Cooling System article - Radiator, Removing and Installing .
-- Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2- and remove the left air duct hose from the charge air cooler.
-- Close open lines and connections with clean plugs from the : VAS6122 .
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the right air duct hose from the charge air cooler.
-- Close open lines and connections with clean plugs from the : VAS6122 .
-- Disconnect and free up the connector on the left and right latch.
-- Disconnect the hood latch cable at the coupling and free it up on the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - RELEASE CABLE .
Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.
Risk of injury.
- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the crash sensor -3-.
-- To do this pull out the connector lock -2-, push down in direction of -arrow-, and disconnect the connector -1- on the crash sensor.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Outside Air Temperature Sensor -G17- -3-.
-- Free up the wiring harness.
-- On vehicles with adaptive cruise control (ACC), disconnect the connector and free up the wiring harness.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- on the left and right.
-- Remove the bolt -2- and remove the signal horn with bracket.
-- Have a second technician hold the lock carrier and remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the lock carrier with a second technician.
-- The following components must also be removed if the lock carrier is being replaced:
- Impact Member. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
- Latch. Refer to LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
