Rear Final Drive, Removing And Installing, AUDI A1 QUATTRO: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Tightening specifications:
- Refer to OVERVIEW - FINAL DRIVE .
Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.
- The rear axle is lifted using : VAS6100 Refer to REMOVING .
-- Tilt the final drive using the : VAS6931 , as illustrated.
-- Lift the final drive and guide the rear bonded rubber bushing -arrows- above the subframe while observing the clearance of the other components.
-- Lift the final drive into the installed position with the : VAS6931 .
-- Lay the washer -C- onto the front bonded rubber bushing.
-- Install the new bolt -B- by hand until it touches but do not tighten it yet.
-- Insert the driveshafts -2- into the rear final drive flange shafts.
-- Tighten the rear final drive to the subframe with the new bolts -3-.
-- Tighten the driveshafts -2-. Refer to Drive Axle Threaded Connection, Loosening And Tightening .
-- Attach the bleeder hoses -1- and -2- to the subframe.
-- Connect the connector -1- on the All Wheel Drive Control Module -J492-.
-- Place the complete rear axle with the rear final drive on the : VAS6931 -1- Then take the : VAS6100 away.
-- Install the entire rear axle. Refer to Overview - Drive Axle and Drive Axle, Removing And Installing .
Tighten the bolt -arrow- to the front bonded rubber bushing with the tightening specification after installing the rear axle.
This bolt can be tightened using : T10035 , : T10061 or : T10099/1 .
-- Remove the Engine and Gearbox Jack from under the vehicle.
-- Install the stabilizer bar -arrow- on the rear axle. Refer to Stabilizer Bar, Removing And Installing .
-- Attach the driveshaft to the rear final drive. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, AUDI A1 QUATTRO .
-- Align the center bearing in the oblong holes so that neither the driveshaft nor the center bearing are under stress.
-- Tighten the center bearing combi bolts -1-.
-- Install the rear section of the exhaust system and align it so it is free of tension. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation II, As of 01.2018), OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation III, As Of 12.2017), or OVERVIEW - MUFFLER (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation II, As of 09.2016) .
-- Install the fuel tank. Refer to INSTALLING .
-- Install the tunnel crossmember. Refer to UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL .
When replacing rear final drive, check the axle oil and all wheel drive clutch fluid and add, if necessary. Refer to GEAR OIL and ALL WHEEL DRIVE CLUTCH OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .
