ATF, Draining And Filling

ATF Level, Checking and Correcting: The ATF level can be checked and corrected only if the transmission is installed:

• Audi A6, A7, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF), DRAINING AND FILLING .

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit SMN 372500
• Protective eyewear

Transmission Installed: 

• The engine is off.
• Move vehicle onto a four-pillar workshop hoist or over a work pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
• The selector level is in "P".
• The parking brake button should be activated to set the electromechanical parking brake.

-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-, refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Transmission Removed. 

• The transmission is secured to the engine/transmission holder, refer to SECURING ON ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HOLDER .-

Transmission, Removed or Installed: 

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit SMN 372500 under the transmission.

-- Remove the ATF drain plug -arrow- and let the ATF drain out.

-- Tighten the ATF drain plug.

On Transmissions with an ATF Filter -2- :

-- Replace the ATF filter, refer to ATF FILTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all Transmissions: 

Fill the Transmission with ATF.

• Audi A6, A7, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF), DRAINING AND FILLING .
