Power Steering Pump Assembly Overview
NOTE:
Always Replace Seals.
Do Not Reuse Fluid You Have Drained.
Only Use Hydraulic Fluid.
When Replacing The Power Steering Pump, Replace Its Seal And O-Ring. Refer to appropriate service information, see POWER STEERING PUMP, VEHICLES WITH DYNAMIC STEERING or Refer To the Fig 1 .
Only use Grease from the Parts Information. to lubricate.
- Power Steering Pump -V119-
- With Power Steering Pump Regulator Valve -(V119)-
- The power steering pump and the control valve. Refer to -item ) OVERVIEW - POWER STEERING PUMP, 8-CYLINDER FSI, WITH DYNAMIC STEERING - POWER STEERING PUMP REGULATOR VALVE -(V119)- are one component and can only be replaced together.
- Fill with Hydraulic Fluid before installing
- Delivery pressure, checking. Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP DELIVERY PRESSURE, CHECKING, 8-CYLINDER FSI .
- Removing and installing. Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 8-CYLINDER FSI, WITH DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Grease the power steering pump splines when installing.
- Bleed the steering. Refer to STEERING, BLEEDING AFTER REPLACING .
- Check hydraulic fluid level. Refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
- Steering System, checking for leaks. Refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
- Input Shaft
- Grease the splines on the input shaft and power steering pump all the way around. Allocation. Refer to the Parts Information..
- Grease the hole on the pump side and on the engine side or on the end of the shaft. For allocation. Refer to the Parts Information..
- Seal
- Replacing. Refer to appropriate service information, see Fig 1 or (POWER STEERING PUMP, VEHICLES WITH DYNAMIC STEERING) ) .
- Grease when installing.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification for vehicles with a manual transmission. Refer to CONTROLS, HOUSING - MANUAL TRANSMISSION 0B2 (COUPE) , CONTROLS, HOUSING - MANUAL TRANSMISSION 0B4 AWD (COUPE) , CONTROLS, HOUSING - MANUAL TRANSMISSION INTERNAL COMPONENTS 0B2 AWD (COUPE) and CONTROLS, HOUSING - MANUAL TRANSMISSION INTERNAL COMPONENTS 0B4 AWD (COUPE) .
- Tightening specification for vehicles with an automatic transmission. Refer to appropriate service information, see TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Transmission/engine/power steering pump bolt
- Bolt
- 25 Nm
- Power Steering Pump Regulator Valve -(V119)-
- The power steering pump and the control valve are one component and can only be replaced together.
- Intake Hose
- The "P" marking on the evacuation hose -arrow- must align with the formed seam -arrow- on the power steering pump.
- Clamp
- Always replace if removed
- Tension using Hose Clip Pliers:VAG1275A
- Pressure LineCAUTION:
- Insert The Pressure Line Completely When Installing.
- Note the installation position: the angle between the line connection and the power steering pump axle must be approximately 53°.
- Union Nut
- 38 Nm
- Seal
- Always Replace If Removed
