Rear Final Drive Overview

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

CAUTION:

Only very specific parts on the rear final drive can be disassembled.

Currently it is not possible to remove both chambers -item - and -item - from the final drive.
This means that is currently not possible to repair any internal components.

Bolt
- Always replace if removed
- 50 Nm + 180° additional turn
Right Flange Shaft
- Removing and installing, refer to FLANGE SHAFT SEALS, REAR FINAL DRIVE REMOVED
- Do not confuse with the left flange shaft; they are different.
Ring
- Replace, refer to FLANGE SHAFT RING
ATF Breather Pipe
- For the left chamber
- Clipped to the bleed pipe
Gasket
- With a screen
Hydraulic Control Unit
- With the All wheel Drive (AWD) pump -V415- and pipes to the chambers
- Removing and installing, refer to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT
- Disassembling and assembling, refer to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT
Bolt
- 20 Nm
- M8; 50 mm long
- Quantity: 2
- Follow tightening sequence. See Figure.
Bolt
- 20 Nm
- M8; 50 mm long
- With a permanent seal under the bolt head
- Coat the thread with sealant D 176 501 A1
- Follow tightening sequence. See Figure.
Bolt
- 20 Nm
- M8; 30 mm long
- Follow tightening sequence. See Figure
Shaft Seal
- For the left flange shaft
- Replace, refer to FLANGE SHAFT SEALS, REAR FINAL DRIVE REMOVED
Left Chamber
ATF Check Plug
- 15 Nm
- Always replace if removed
- With a permanent seal
Left Flange Shaft
- Removing and installing, refer to FLANGE SHAFT SEALS, REAR FINAL DRIVE REMOVED
- Do not confuse with the right flange shaft; they are different.
Ring
- Replace, refer to FLANGE SHAFT RING
ATF Drain Plug
- 15 Nm
- Always replace if removed
- With a permanent seal
Gear Oil Drain Plug
- 15 Nm
- Always replace if removed
- With a permanent seal
Final Drive Housing
Shaft Seal
- For the flange/driveshaft
- Replace on the final drive 0BF, refer to FLANGE/DRIVESHAFT SEAL, REAR FINAL DRIVE 0BF
- Replace on the final drive 0BE, refer to FLANGE/DRIVESHAFT SEAL, REAR FINAL DRIVE 0BE
Ring
- Replace, refer to FLANGE/DRIVESHAFT RING
Flange/Driveshaft
- Removing and installing on rear final drive 0BF, refer to FLANGE/DRIVESHAFT SEAL, REAR FINAL DRIVE 0BF
- Removing and installing on rear final drive 0BE, refer to FLANGE/DRIVESHAFT SEAL, REAR FINAL DRIVE 0BE
Securing Ring
- Always replace if removed
- Installing. See Figure
Gear Oil Inspection Plug
- 15 Nm
- Always replace if removed
- With a permanent seal
Bracket
- For the wiring harness
Bolt
- 9 Nm
Right Chamber
Shaft Seal
- For the right flange shaft
- Replace, refer to FLANGE SHAFT SEALS, REAR FINAL DRIVE REMOVED
ATF Breather Pipe
- For the right chamber
- Clipped to the bleed pipe
Final Drive Bleeder
- Clipped to the bleed pipe
