Reducing Agent Tank, Removing And Installing: Removing

Follow all safety precautions, refer to SCR SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

WARNING:

Danger due to reducing agent leaking out.

-- Draining the reducing agent tank, refer to REDUCING AGENT TANK, DRAINING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

WARNING:

The reducing agent can cause skin irritation.

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes! Always wear protective gloves and safety glasses.
  • If reducing agent should get on your skin, wash it off immediately with soap and water.
  • If reducing agent gets in your eye, rinse the eye for several minutes with water.
  • Never inhale or swallow the reducing agent!
  • Should you swallow any reducing agent, rinse your mouth, drink plenty of water and contact a doctor immediately.

-- Disconnect the connectors -2 and 3- and free up the wiring harness.

-- Disconnect and free up the reducing agent hose -1-, refer to REDUCING AGENT DELIVERY LINE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

WARNING:

Risk of accident due to the weight of the tank.

  • The tank must be empty when removing it.

-- Place the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931 with a soft foam pad in-between to support the tank.

-- With a second mechanic to hold the tank, remove bolts -arrow-.

NOTE:

For better illustration the tank is shown without the engine and transmission.

-- While guiding the tank by hand, lower the it approximately 100 mm with the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931.

NOTE:

To catch escaping reducing agent place a clean cloth under the separation point.

-- Disconnect the filling hose -1- and the ventilation line -2- by pressing the release button.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS6122.

-- Lower the tank again using the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS6931. Guide the tank with one hand while lowering it.
