STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, Vehicles with 3.0L TFSI and 3.2L FSI Engine: Installing

Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - STARTER .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, make sure the seal -1- fits correctly inside the starter opening before installing the starter.

The sealing piece must cover the opening for the starter -2- -arrow-.

-- Install the engine support and the right engine mount. Refer to RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 3.2L, engine code CALA, or RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 3.0L, engine(s) CCBA, CGXC, CTUB .

With manual/multitronic transmission:

-- Install the right catalytic converter. Refer to RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 3.2L, engine code CALA, or RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 3.0L, engine(s) CCBA, CGXC, CTUB .

NOTE:

To replace the exhaust manifold gasket, the exhaust manifold must be removed. Refer to OVERVIEW - EXHAUST MANIFOLD for 3.2L, engine code CALA, or OVERVIEW - EXHAUST MANIFOLD for 3.0L, engine codes CCBA, CGXC, CTUB .

-- Install the right front muffler. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 3.2L, engine code CALA, or FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 3.0L, engine codes CCBA, CGXC, CTUB .

-- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to OVERVIEW - BULKHEAD .

All vehicles:

-- Connect the battery. Required actions. Refer to CONNECTING .
