Windshield wiper system, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment
- 80-200 Pry lever
Removing
- Remove rubber seal for plenum chamber cover.
- Remove plenum chamber cover -1- toward front -arrows-.
Removing wiper arms
- Switch windshield wipers on and off and let run to end position.
- Use screwdriver to pry off the two caps -3-.
- Loosen hex-nuts -4- by several turns.
- Loosen wiper arm -2- from wiper shaft by gently tilting.
- Remove hex nuts completely and remove wiper arm.
- Pull off securing clips -1- and remove cowl panel grill -5-.
Removing wiper frame with linkage and wiper motor
- Remove cover for E-box, in plenum chamber -arrows-.
- Pry off wiper linkage -2- from ball head using 80-200 Pry Lever.
- Remove crank from wiper motor.
- Unclip line/hose guides on wiper frame.
- Remove bolts -arrows- and remove wiper frame -1- completely.
- Unplug electrical harness connector.
Removing wiper motor from wiper frame
- Unscrew wiper motor from wiper frame -arrows-.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, paying attention to the following:
- Bolt on wiper motor without crank to wiper frame to 9 Nm -arrows-.
- Connect connector to wiper motor.
- Install wiper motor to wiper frame in vehicle (8 Nm).
- Connect battery. Required steps. Refer to Battery, disconnecting and connecting .
- Operate wiper cycle button.
- Let wiper motor run to rest position.
- Align crank -1- to wiper frame and tighten nut -2- to 18 Nm.
- α = 2 °
