ATF cooling lines, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Drip tray
- Safety goggles
NOTE:
- Read the rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic transmission → Rules for cleanliness .
- Thoroughly clean all joints and surrounding areas before disassembling.
Removing
- Mark position of all ATF cooling lines in relation to one another with different colors to avoid confusion.
- Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 underneath.
CAUTION:
Wear safety goggles.
- Disconnect ATF cooling lines.
- Seal opened cooling lines with clean sealing plugs.
Installing
Installation is performed in reverse sequence. Note the following:
- Clean ATF lines → ATF cooling lines and ATF cooler, cleaning .
- Lightly lubricate O-rings with ATF.
- First press ATF lines onto transmission or cooler by hand until they engage, then secure lines → ATF cooling lines, component overview (vehicles with 4.2 ltr. MPI engine) .
- Check ATF level → ATF level, checking and correcting .
