ATF cooling lines and ATF cooler, cleaning

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Compressed air gun (commercially available)
- Hose, approx. 18 mm dia.
- Drip tray
NOTE:
- Always clean ATF cooling lines and ATF cooler before installing a replacement transmission.
- Read the rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic transmission → Rules for cleanliness .
- Thoroughly clean all joints and surrounding areas before disassembling.
Procedure
- Place drip tray underneath.
- Remove bolt - 2 -.
- Connect a hose approx. 18 mm dia. to ATF line - A - and secure with a hose clamp. Place other end of hose in drip tray.
CAUTION:
Wear safety goggles.
- Blow through ATF line - B - using a compressed air line (max. 10 bar).
- Change hose from ATF line - A - over to ATF line - B - and repeat sequence.
- Press ATF cooling lines onto transmission or cooler by hand until they engage, then tighten → ATF cooling lines, component overview (vehicles with 4.2 ltr. MPI engine) .
- Check ATF level → ATF level, checking and correcting .
