Transmission Control Module, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. At the same time note the following:
- Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - END COVER .
Replace gaskets and O-rings.
-- If necessary, clean dirt and metal shavings off the sensors -5 through 8- and the connectors -1 through 3-.
-- Clean the selector shaft. Refer to SELECTOR SHAFT, CLEANING .
-- Before installing the Transmission Control Module -J217-, coat the new O-rings -A- on the hydraulic control module with ATF.
Ignore -arrows-.
-- Install the Transmission Control Module -J217- without tilting it.
- The connectors on the back of the control module must lock securely into the terminals -A, B, and C- on the hydraulic control module.
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows-.
-- If equipped, mount the displacer -A- on the Transmission Control Module -J217-.
-- Install the end cover. Refer to END COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fill the ATF and check and correct the ATF level. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
Perform the following steps using a Vehicle Diagnostic Tester if the Transmission Control Module -J217- was replaced.
-- Select the following menu options under Functions/Component selection in Guided Fault Finding on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester:
- Drivetrain
- 0AW transmission
- 01 OBD-capable systems
- 02-Transmission electronics
- 02-Transmission electronics, functions
- 02-Replacing Control Module
