Bevel Box
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Socket and Extended Bit T10107
- Bracket 2024 A /1
Removing
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe, the catalytic converter and muffler. Refer to [For engine(s) CETA, CCTA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) CDMA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) BPY] Removal and Installation .
-- Drain the engine oil.
-- Remove the right front wheel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Remove the right drive axle heat shield from bevel box -arrows-.
-- Remove right drive axle from the bevel box flange.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- on the oil level thermal sensor -G266-.
-- Remove the bracket -2- for the oil level thermal sensor wire from the subframe.
-- Mark the installed position of the right nuts -arrows-.
-- Remove the nuts from the right ball joint. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Remove the nut from the bracket for the right front level control sensor -G289-.
-- Remove the ball joint from the control arm.
The installation position on the left front wheel suspension is shown in the illustration.
-- Move the right suspension strut to the outside and support it with the 2024 A/1 as illustrated.
There is the risk of an accident due to loose support parts.
- Secure the securing pin and control arm with the plug connector -arrow- and nut -1-.
The installation position on the left front wheel suspension is shown in the illustration.
-- Loosen the bolts -1- and remove the bolts -2-.
-- Identify position of flexible disc and bevel box flange to each other.
-- Remove driveshaft flexible disc from bevel box -arrows- while counter holding at triangular flange with a lever.
Risk of damaging sealing ring -arrow - in driveshaft flange.
- Press driveshaft horizontally as far back and to the right side of the vehicle as possible.
-- Remove the bolts - 2 and 3- from the pendulum support.
-- Press engine/transmission assembly forward slightly and remove driveshaft from the bevel box.
Ignore -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, then remove the oil return line from the turbochargers and push it to the right.
Ignore -1-.
-- Remove right flange shaft bolt with T10107 by installing 2 bolts in flange and counter holding flange shaft with assembly lever.
-- Remove the bevel box bolts -arrows- on the transmission.
-- Remove bevel box from transmission together with right flange shaft.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- For the correct tightening specifications, refer to FLANGE SHAFT, SEALS AND BRACKET ON BEVEL BOX OVERVIEW .
Risk of damaging sealing ring between transmission and bevel box.
- Place bevel box on transmission together with right flange shaft while turning shaft.
-- Tighten bevel box on transmission.
-- Install the right flange shaft. Refer to RIGHT FLANGE SHAFT .
-- Tighten the bevel box bracket bolts. Refer to Fig 12.
-- Install the front exhaust pipe, the catalytic converters and the muffler. Refer to [For engine(s) CETA, CCTA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) CDMA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) BPY] Removal and Installation .
-- Install the turbocharger oil return line. Refer to [For engine(s) CETA, CCTA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) CDMA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) BPY] Removal and Installation .
-- Install the right drive axle. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Axle oil level, checking and filling, refer to AXLE OIL LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
-- Fill the engine oil.
