Axle Oil Level, Checking And Filling
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Oil Collecting and Extracting Device V.A.G 1782
- Protective goggles
General repair instructions, refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
Observe cleanliness rules when working on transmissions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Observe notes for S-Tronic transmission 02E, "Oil disposal regulations ". Refer to TRANSMISSION .
Procedure
- Move vehicle onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a work pit so that it stands absolutely horizontal.
- Place selector lever in position "P", engage the parking brake.
- The engine is off.
-- Remove the noise insulation -1-. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields" in Removal and Installation .
-- Place the V.A.G 1782 under the transmission.
Risk of injury due to hot axle oil.
- Wear protective goggles.
- Wear protective gloves.
-- Remove oil filler hole plug -B-.
- Specified value: axle oil level up to bottom edge of oil filler hole.
-- Fill if the axle oil level is too low. For the correct part number.
Assembling
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- Tightening specification, refer to FLANGE SHAFT, SEALS AND BRACKET ON BEVEL BOX OVERVIEW .
Replace the oil filler hole drain plug.
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields" in Removal and Installation .
