Exhaust System Overview

Part 1
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged
- Catalytic Converter
- With a flex joint
- Do not bend the decoupling element more than 10° or it will be damaged.
- Protect from shocks and impact stress
- Removing and Installing, refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
- Oxygen Sensor 2 After Catalytic Converter -G131-
- Coat the threads on the new heated oxygen sensors with assembly paste.
- If reusing the oxygen sensor, coat the threads with hot bolt paste. For the correct hot bolt paste .
- Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get onto the slots on the sensor body.
- Removing and Installing, refer to OXYGEN SENSORS .
- Nut
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Replace
- Seal
- Replace
- Exhaust Manifold
- Removing and Installing, refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 -G108-
- Coat the threads on the new heated oxygen sensors with assembly paste.
- If reusing the oxygen sensor, coat the threads with hot bolt paste. For the correct hot bolt paste .
- Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get onto the slots on the sensor body.
- Removing and Installing, refer to OXYGEN SENSORS .
- Seal
- Replace
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Pre-Catalytic Converters
- Protect from shocks and impact stress.
- Removing and Installing, refer to PRE-CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
- Individual mounting components to transmission, refer to Fig 5.
- Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
Part 2
- Nut
- Tightening specification: 60 Nm
- Tail Pipe
- Replacing, refer to TAIL PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Rear Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with center muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
- Separating point, refer to CENTER MUFFLER AND REAR MUFFLER, SEPARATING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
- Nut
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Front Clamping Sleeve
- Installed position, refer to Fig 3.
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
- Tighten threaded connections evenly.
- Center Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with rear muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
- Separating point, refer to CENTER MUFFLER AND REAR MUFFLER, SEPARATING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
- Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Nut
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Rear Clamping Sleeve
- For individual replacement of center and rear mufflers.
- Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
- Tighten threaded connections evenly.
-- Install clamping sleeves so threaded connections are below.
- Ends of screws point toward outside of vehicle.
-- Install the left clamping sleeve so the threaded connections are at the left.
- Ends of screws point down.
-- Install right clamping sleeve so threaded connections are at top.
- Ends of screws point toward right.

- Bolt - Tightening specification: 23 Nm
- Nut - Tightening specification: 23 Nm
