Exhaust System Overview

1. Bolt
   • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
2. Suspended Mount
   • Replace if damaged
3. Catalytic Converter
   • With a flex joint
   • Do not bend the decoupling element more than 10° or it will be damaged.
   • Protect from shocks and impact stress
   • Removing and Installing, refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
4. Oxygen Sensor 2 After Catalytic Converter -G131-
   • Coat the threads on the new heated oxygen sensors with assembly paste.
   • If reusing the oxygen sensor, coat the threads with hot bolt paste. For the correct hot bolt paste .
   • Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get onto the slots on the sensor body.
   • Removing and Installing, refer to OXYGEN SENSORS .
5. Nut
   • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
   • Replace
6. Seal
   • Replace
7. Exhaust Manifold
   • Removing and Installing, refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
8. Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 -G108-
   • Coat the threads on the new heated oxygen sensors with assembly paste.
   • If reusing the oxygen sensor, coat the threads with hot bolt paste. For the correct hot bolt paste .
   • Assembly paste or hot bolt paste must not get onto the slots on the sensor body.
   • Removing and Installing, refer to OXYGEN SENSORS .
9. Seal
   • Replace
10. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
11. Pre-Catalytic Converters
    • Protect from shocks and impact stress.
    • Removing and Installing, refer to PRE-CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
    • Individual mounting components to transmission, refer to Fig 5.
12. Suspended Mount
    • Replace if damaged.
13. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 23 Nm

1. Nut
   • Tightening specification: 60 Nm
2. Tail Pipe
   • Replacing, refer to TAIL PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Bolt
   • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
4. Suspended Mount
   • Replace if damaged.
5. Rear Muffler
   • Original equipment as one unit with center muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
   • Separating point, refer to CENTER MUFFLER AND REAR MUFFLER, SEPARATING .
   • Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
6. Nut
   • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
7. Front Clamping Sleeve
   • Installed position, refer to Fig 3.
   • Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
   • Tighten threaded connections evenly.
8. Center Muffler
   • Original equipment as one unit with rear muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
   • Separating point, refer to CENTER MUFFLER AND REAR MUFFLER, SEPARATING .
   • Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
9. Suspended Mount
   • Replace if damaged.
10. Bolt
    • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
11. Nut
    • Tightening specification: 23 Nm
12. Rear Clamping Sleeve
    • For individual replacement of center and rear mufflers.
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
    • Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING .
    • Tighten threaded connections evenly.

-- Install clamping sleeves so threaded connections are below.

• Ends of screws point toward outside of vehicle.

-- Install the left clamping sleeve so the threaded connections are at the left.

• Ends of screws point down.

-- Install right clamping sleeve so threaded connections are at top.

• Ends of screws point toward right.
