Sealing Flange, Removing And Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Seal Installer - CrankshaftT10215
- Hand drill with plastic brush attachment
- Protective eyewear
- Sealant
Removal
Proceed as follows:
-- On a vehicle with air suspension, activate vehicle lift mode, refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .
-- Remove the ribbed belt, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the vibration damper, refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt and the front noise insulation -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 to 11-.
-- Carefully pry up sealing flange.
Installation
- Tightening specification, refer to Figure.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Risk of contaminating lubrication system with sealant residue.
- Lay clean cloth over open part of oil pan.
-- Carefully remove sealant residue on cylinder block and oil pan.
Danger of eye injury.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Remove any sealant still on the sealing flange with a rotating plastic brush.
-- Clean sealing surfaces, must be free of oil and grease.
-- Cut tube nozzle at front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 2 mm).
-- Apply a thin bead of sealant -arrows- on edge between cylinder block and oil pan.
-- Lightly coat lower sealing surface -shaded- on sealing flange with sealant.
-- Apply sealant bead -arrow- to clean sealing flange sealing surface as shown in illustration.
- Sealant bead thickness: 2 to 3 mm.
Risk of plugging oil pump strainer with excess sealant.
- Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.
Sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes of applying sealant.
-- Carefully slide sealing flange onto guide pins -arrows- on cylinder block using Seal Installer - CrankshaftT10215.
-- Tighten sealing flange bolts, refer to Figure.
-- Install the vibration damper, refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the ribbed belt, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode, refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .
