Charge Air Cooler
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Bung Set VAS 6122
Removing
-- Remove the radiator. Refer to RADIATOR .
-- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Refrigerant can cause serious personal injury.
- Do not open the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.
Risk of damaging refrigerant lines and hoses.
- Do not stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.
-- Remove the air guide hose from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp -arrow-.
-- Remove the air guide hose by loosening hose clamps -1 and 2-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- by releasing the air ducts at the left and right and tilting them toward the headlamp.
-- Tilt the upper edge of the charge air cooler back slightly.
-- Disengage the charge air cooler from the lower mounting points by lifting it.
-- Slide the charge air cooler toward the engine and support it from below so it does not sink.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the charge air cooler upward.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
If there are small impressions on the fins. Refer to COOLERS, CONDENSERS AND CHARGE AIR COOLERS .
- For the correct tightening specifications, refer to CHARGE AIR COOLER OVERVIEW .
Hose connections and charge air system hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory.
To mount the charge hoses on their connectors securely, spray the bolts on the used clamps with rust remover before installing.
-- Install the radiator. Refer to RADIATOR .
-- Install the front bumper. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Air guides, installing with connector. Refer to AIR GUIDE PIPES AND HOSES WITH CONNECTOR COUPLING .
-- Check the coolant level. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING => Check the coolant level. .
