Crankshaft Overview

NOTE:

For assembly work, secure the engine on the Engine And Transmission HolderVAS6095 Refer to ENGINE, SECURING ON ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HOLDER .

  1. Crankshaft
  2. Alignment Sleeve
    • Quantity: 2
    • Insert in cylinder block.
  3. Guide Frame
    • Installation. Refer to Fig 2.
  4. Bolt
    • Replace
    • Tightening specification and sequence, refer to Fig 2.
  5. Thrust Washer
    • Only at 3rd crankshaft bearing.
    • Installed position: the oil grooves face outward.
    • Pay attention to the locating point.
  6. Bearing Shell
    • For guide frame.
    • mark used bearing shells for reinstallation but not on the running surface.
    • Replace the bearing shells worn down to the base layer.
    • Insert new bearing shells for guide frame with proper color marking, refer to Fig 4.
  7. Centering Bushing for Torque Converter
    • Install in the crankshaft.
  8. Alignment Pin
    • Make sure the crankshaft fits correctly.
  9. Thrust Washer
    • Only at 3rd crankshaft bearing.
    • Installed position: the oil grooves face outward.
    • Pay attention to the locating point.
  10. Bearing Shell
    • For cylinder block with oil groove.
    • mark used bearing shells for reinstallation but not on the running surface.
    • Replace the bearing shells worn down to the base layer.
    • Insert new bearing shells for cylinder block with proper color marking, refer to Fig 3.

NOTE:

Replace any bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

-- Install both dowel sleeves into the cylinder block.

-- Tighten the bolts in three steps and in the sequence shown:

Stage Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1. -1 to 16- 30 Nm
2. -1 to 16- 50 Nm
3. -1 to 16- Tighten 90° additional turn

Bearing shells with the correct thickness are allocated to the cylinder block in the factory. Colored dots on bearing shells serve for identifying bearing shell thickness.

NOTE:

-Arrow- points to belt pulley side.

Allocation of bearing shells to cylinder block is identified with a letter by each bearing.

Letter on Cylinder Block Color of Bearing
R = red
G = yellow
B = Blue
