DTC B18C2: Left BSI Alert Indicator Output Error
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO RETRIEVE DTCS ).
- Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO RETRIEVE DTCS
).
Is DTC B18C2 indicated?
YES -Go to step 4.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Remove the door mirror cover (see POWER MIRROR REPLACEMENT ).
- Measure the resistance between left BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ω.Fig 1: Measuring Resistance Between Left BSI Alert Indicator 2P Connector Terminal No. 1 And Body Ground

Is the resistance as specified?
YES -Go to step 7.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between the left BSI alert indicator and ground (G405).
- Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and within 3 seconds measure the voltage between left BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

Does the voltage remain between 12 V and 1 V for 3 seconds after pressing the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then go down to 0 V?
YES -Replace the left BSI alert indicator (see BSI ALERT INDICATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
NO -Go to step 8.
- Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Disconnect the BSI control unit 16P connector.
- Measure the resistance between left BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MΩ.Fig 3: Measuring Resistance Between Left BSI Alert Indicator 2P Connector Terminal No. 2 And Body Ground

Is the resistance as specified?
YES -Go to step 11.
NO -Repair a short to ground in the wire between the BSI control unit and the left BSI alert indicator.
- Measure the resistance between BSI control unit 16P connector terminal No. 4 and left BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 2. Is the resistance as specified?
YES -Go to step 12.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between the BSI control unit and the left BSI alert indicator.
- Make sure the BSI control unit 16P connector is disconnected.
- Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Measure the voltage between left BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be less than 0.2 V.Fig 5: Measuring Voltage Between Left BSI Alert Indicator 2P Connector Terminal No. 2 And Body Ground

Is the voltage as specified?
YES -Replace the BSI control unit (see BSI CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
NO -Repair a short to power in the wire between the BSI control unit and the left BSI alert indicator. If the problem is still present, replace the left BSI alert indicator (see BSI ALERT INDICATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
