  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO RETRIEVE DTCS  ).
  2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
  3. Check for DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO RETRIEVE DTCS  ).

    Is DTC B18CF indicated?

    YES  -Go to step 4.

NO  -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

  4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
  5. Remove the door mirror cover (see POWER MIRROR REPLACEMENT ).
  6. Measure the resistance between right BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ω.

Does the voltage remain between 12 V and 1 V for 3 seconds after pressing the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then go down to 0 V?

YES  -Replace the right BSI alert indicator (see BSI ALERT INDICATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  ).

    NO  -Go to step 8.

  8. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
  9. Disconnect the BSI control unit 16P connector.
  10. Measure the resistance between right BSI alert indicator 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MΩ.
