Ignition on.
Activate headlamp wash / wipe.

Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.

The headlamp wash / wipe relay clicks when it is activated.

The fault is permanent if the headlamp wash / wipe does not activate.

If the headlamp wash / wipe is activated, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i. e. the fault is intermittent.
