Installing the Steering Gear Housing On the Steering Column

Press the pinion shaft down as far as it will go. Tighten the screw.

Tighten to 17 Nm.

Install a new tie strap on the intermediate plate.

If there is a gap, cut of the tie strap and degrease the area (use Loctite 7063).

Apply sealing compound (Loctite 3423) between the rubber hose and the steering column. Install a new tie strap.

Install the rubber seal. Tighten the tie strap carefully  .

NOTE: The sealing agent must be left to dry for 3 hours before the car is driven.

The following tools are used when using Loctite 3423:

Loctite can be ordered locally.

Pump handle 990207 and mixer pipe 5289009 can also be ordered. This are used when working with Loctite.

3423 is supplied with two mixer pipes.
