Replacing lock function: Removal

Remove:

the gear selector knob according to Replacing gear selector knob
the center console according to Transmission control module (TCM) diagnostic functions .

Pull out the pawl (1) with round-nosed pliers.

Remove the push rod and spring (4). If necessary, use a thin, bent welding rod to lift up the spring.
