Expansion valve, replacing: Removal
- First read Before starting work on the expansion valve
- Disconnect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing
- Drain the refrigerant from the system. See Refrigerant, draining
- Remove the engine stabilizer brace in the engine compartment. For 5 cylinder engines Replacing cross stay/upper torque rod
- Remove the engine stabilizer brace in the engine compartment. For 6 cylinder engines Replacing cross stay/upper torque rod
Open:
- the clamp for the refrigerant pipe on the side member.
- To replace the heat shield, see Replacing the heat shield for the thermostatic expansion valve .
- Remove the refrigerant pipes from the expansion valve. Pull the holder back slightly
- Detach the pipes from the expansion valve. Carefully move the pipes out of the way.
- Remove the screws holding the expansion valve
- Remove the expansion valve.
