Checking the component
- Ignition on
Check the damper motors. Check for internal short-circuits according to the following method:
- Remove the soundproofing panel to access the damper motor connectors.
- Erase the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the climate control module (CCM).
- First disconnect the connector from a damper motor. Leave the other damper motors connected.NOTE:
Take care when disconnecting the connectors for the damper motors to prevent loose connections.
- Activate the controls (right and left-hand temperature knobs, defroster, air distribution selector, recirculation) on the climate control module (CCM) to operate all the damper motors.
- Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the climate control module (CCM). If the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have not recurred, there is an internal fault in the disconnected damper motor.
- If the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) recur, continue fault tracing. Reconnect the disconnected damper motor and disconnect the next damper motor. Repeat the procedure by erasing all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and running the damper motors until the faulty damper motor has been identified.
