Checking the wires and connectors
Check the fuel gauge sensor resistance (right side). The resistance across the respective sensor may vary between 12 ohm (full tank) and 383 ohm (empty tank).
HINT: The resistance of the fuel gauge sensor (right side) can be measured between fuel gauge sensor connector 7 and 6. The resistance of the left fuel gauge sensor can be measured between fuel gauge sensor connector 5 and 6.
Check wires and connections between fuel gauge sensor connector 7 and control unit A08 (A8) for an open circuit, as described in Open-circuit, permanent faults , a short circuit to ground, as described in Short-circuit to ground, permanent faults and for a short circuit to voltage supply, as described in Short-circuit to supply voltage. Permanent faults .
Check ground wire between control unit A10 (A10) and fuel gauge sensor connector 6 for an open circuit, as described in Open-circuit, permanent faults .
Check wires between left and right fuel gauge sensor for an open circuit as described in Open-circuit, permanent faults .
Do the necessary corrective action.
