Replacing valve stem seal: Notes

Use grip tool 9995219 when removing valve stem seal.

A companion tool for this grip tool is being introduced in the spring of 1996 to help remove difficult valve stem seals. The companion tool has P/N 9989740 and consists of an impact driver handle.

When installing valve stem seal put a protective sleeve over the valve stem so that the collet grooves do not damage the seals.

The protective sleeve is supplied with the valve stem seal kit, P/N 272227-0 (2 valve) or 272228-8 (4 valve). It is also available as a separate replacement part with P/N 1332645-4.
