Intermittent Fault

Check the ECC control module and engine control module (ECM) connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact Resistance And Oxidation .

Check cable between ECC control module #B2 and engine control module (ECM) for an intermittent open circuit according to Open-Circuit, Intermittent Faults and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage, Intermittent Faults and an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Short-Circuit To Ground, Intermittent Faults .

Also check cable between ECC control module #B2 and combined instrument panel #A26 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage, Intermittent Faults and an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Short-Circuit To Ground, Intermittent Faults .

Remedy as necessary.

Other information: 

• To disconnect ECC control module, refer to Replacing ECC Control Module .
• Connection of breakout box to ECC control module, refer to Connection Of Breakout Box ECC .
• The frequency on the coolant temperature signal varies with the temperature. For other values, see Signal Specification ECC .
