Checking Components And Cables

Check outside temperature sensor resistance. For resistance values, see ECC Electrical Specifications .

Check cable between ECC control module #A19 and outside temperature sensor terminal 2 for an open-circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults .

Check cable between control module #A22 and outside temperature sensor terminal 4 for an open circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults .

HINT: A short-circuit on the ground lead can be caused by a short-circuit to supply voltage. Always check the signal cable for this fault cause as well. 

Remedy as necessary.

Other information: 

• To install a new outside temperature sensor, refer to Replacing Outside Temperature Sensor (Electronic Climate Control) .
• To connect the breakout box, see Connection Of Breakout Box ECC .
• The voltage on the signal cable varies with temperature. At 20°C (68°F) voltage should be approximately 2.5 V. For other values, see Signal Specification ECC .
