Install the steering shaft gaiter

Lubricate the needle bearing in the gaiter with low-temperature grease part number 1161417-9 (30 grams).

Fold back the outer part of the gaiter.

Lubricate the edge on the inside of the inner part of the gaiter with soapy water.

Fit the inner part of the gaiter around the sheet metal collar in the bulkhead plate so that it seals tight all the way around

Lubricate the inside of the lock ring with soapy water

Press the lock ring into position around the inner part of the gaiter against the bulkhead plate. The outer part of the gaiter shall be folded back

Fold down the outer part of the gaiter against the lock ring's flange. Make sure that it has contact all the way around.

Make sure that the splines on the steering shaft are clean.

Lubricate the steering shaft's splines and the steering column's bearing with low-temperature grease, part number 1161417-9 (30 grams).
