Lowering the Sub-Frame

NOTE: Check that the steering gear screws are free of the sub-frame. Ensure that the control arm is free of the right drive shaft boot.

Remove the mobile jack.

Let the frame hang freely from the screws on the right-hand side.

Right-hand drive cars only:

Tape the rear edge of the drive shaft end to the oil pipe.

Remove the earth cable from the transmission.

Suspend the steering gear with the hook 9995045 in the hole on the frame member's flange.

Remove the screw to the steering gear, engine pad and the nut on top engine pad. Remove the engine pad.

NOTE: Ensure that the steering gear hangs securely on the hook so that the lower steering shaft does not slide out of the steering column.

Remove:

The clamps on the heated oxygen sensor cable from the cover.
The connector and cable to the vehicle speed sensor.

Remove:

The cover at the rear engine mounting.
The rear engine mounting from the gearbox
