Low Level

Check temperature chart before filling with oil.
The difference between MAX- and MIN-volume is 0.5 liters (0.5 US qts). Oil temperature in the transmission can be checked using Volvo Scan Tools (Diagnostic Key or Volvo System Tester) in DTM 5 .
At room temperature (+20°C = 68°F) the level should be between the bottom of the dipstick and the second mark down from the cold range, see illustration. The "cold range" (+40°C = 104°F) is reached after approximately 15 minutes of idling, while the "hot range" (+80°C = 176°F) is reached after approximately 30 minutes of highway driving at an air temp. at +15°C (= 59°F). The check should be carried out at an oil temperature of +80°C (176°F).
