Fault-Tracing Information 1-1-1: General

The transmission control module (TCM) has been unable to detect electrical faults in the transmission circuit or in transmission-related circuits.
Mechanical faults without diagnostic codes
Faults may be purely mechanical, and do not always affect transmission function. Such faults include oil leaks and faults in related components in the drive system. The latter are sometimes indicated by noises which occur when the car is being driven. The illustration below shows where the most common mechanical faults, not indicated by diagnostic codes, may be found.
- Connection between carrier plate and torque converter
- Torque converter
- Inside the actual transmission
- Seals etc. in all joints and connections
- Test plug
