Checking crimping results
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2006 Volvo S80, 2005 Volvo S80, 2004 Volvo S80, 2003 Volvo S80, and 2002 Volvo S80. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
A correctly crimped cable should look like this:
- Core wings (1) should be completely pressed over the stripped core of wire.
The first graphic shows the copper strands in the core in cross section where they are completely compressed and covered by the core wings.
- Insulation wings (2) should be completely pressed over the cable insulation.
If a seal is used for cable terminal it should be pressed under the insulation wings as shown.
