Spring Rear, Replacing (Four-C): Installation
For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque .
Installing the spring
Use hydraulic piston: 9512911 using claw: 9512914 and extension: 9512937 .
Compress the new spring. Thread it into the control arm.
Ensure that the spring is gripped in the same place as the old spring.
Install:
- the spring in the control arm
- the grommet
- release the spring.
Remove the hydraulic piston: 9512911 using claw: 9512914 and extension: 9512937 .
Lubricate the rubber ring using soap solution for easier installation.
Twist the spring until there is a clearance (A) of 15 mm between the end of the spring and the raised portion of the control arm (stop lug).
Installing the shock absorber
Insert the new shock absorber through the control arm to the upper mounting.
Install the new nut loosely.
Install:
- the cable harness on the sub-frame and the control arm for the shock absorber
- the connector on top of the sub-frame.
Installing the brake caliper
Install:
- the brake caliper
- the 2 screws for the brake caliper. Use new screws. Tighten. See: Summary of specific components and tightening torques
- the ABS sensor
- the M6 screw for the ABS sensor. Tighten, see Summary of specific components and tightening torques .
Installing the shock absorber continued
Press up the control arm using a mobile jack.
Fix the shock absorber in the lower mounting. Tighten the M12 screw.
Remove the mobile jack.
Install:
- the nut for the upper mounting for the shock absorber. Tighten, see Summary of tightening torques for specific components . Use socket: 9995500 and a Torx-wrench as a counterhold.
- soundproofing.
Fold back the front edge of the side panel in the cargo compartment. Install the clips.
Fold the rear seat backrest back into position.
Reinstall the floor mat. Install the wheels, see Installing wheels .
Finishing
Raise the car. Remove the tensioning strap between the control arms.
Lower the vehicle.
Check and adjust the headlamps in accordance with: Headlamps, aligning .
