Ranking Values

There is a ranking value for each diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The ranking value describes the proximity of a real fault in the system. When the ranking value exceeds 128 a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored. Misfire, which counts the number of missed combustions is an exceptions.

The smart tool is able to read out the ranking values for the relevant diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) (those that may have caused a diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to be stored). If the ranking value for any of the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) is close or over 128 carry out fault-tracing according to the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC), even if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has not been stored.

The ranking information consists of two values:

• "Latest" contains the ranking value at read off
• "Worst" contains the highest ranking value the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has had.

These parameters are first set to zero when erasing the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
