Checking The Component
Check the oil level and oil quality.
Check the mechanical function of the variable valve timing (VVT) unit and the reset valve.
Remedy as necessary

Check that the timing belt has not jumped off and that the camshaft is in the correct position.
HINT: Faults may result from dirt in the camshaft reset valve. Try cleaning the valve.
Try a new camshaft reset valve if the above fault-tracing does not solve the fault.
Remedy as necessary.
