Checking Vacuum To Canister Purge Valve

  1. Reinstall hose to canister purge valve. Start engine and let idle.
  2. Disconnect hose between canister purge valve and intake manifold from canister purge valve. Check for vacuum in the hose. See Fig 1. Repair as necessary. Go to VERIFICATION .

  3. If vacuum in hose is OK, replace canister purge valve with a known good unit. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - EXCEPT S40 & V40 article. Go to VERIFICATION .
